ROUSSOS Recruitment is partnering with an established property developer / owner who delivers projects nation-wide. In this role, you will step into a leadership position within their expanding team, overseeing and guiding the architectural design process for a range of new developments, refurbishments, and renovations. The position offers a unique opportunity to mentor and grow a team of 40 designers, ensuring projects are delivered to the highest standard.

The role
This is a people-focused leadership role, where you will be responsible for managing and mentoring a team of architects and designers as they work on a variety of retail development, refurbishment, and renovation projects. Your role will involve overseeing the team’s day-to-day workflow, ensuring that designs meet regulatory requirements, are on-brand, and are delivered on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Mentor and support junior designers, fostering a collaborative team environment
  • Develop, plan, and manage retail design projects from concept through to completion, ensuring high-quality outcomes for new stores, refurbishments, and renovations
  • Manage project budgets, ensuring that designs are cost-effective and developed within financial parameters
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, local council guidelines, environmental regulations, and industry standards to minimise legal risk
  • Oversee the quality control of architectural designs and ensure timelines are met
  • Present design plans to senior management, project teams, and external partners
The ideal candidate
We are looking for a Registered Architect in Australia, with at least 5 years experience, ideally in retail or commercial design, who is passionate about leading and developing people. You will have strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage, mentor, and support a team while maintaining a focus on project delivery. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and other 3D modelling software is essential, along with excellent communication and organisational abilities.
